Welcome to the Little Sisters of the Poor
St. Louis, Missouri

Since 1869, the Little Sisters of the Poor have served over 10,000 of St. Louis' needy elderly providing care, food and shelter in a homelike setting. Our Residents come to the Home with very limited financial resources and would be categorized in the poverty level. The Sisters welcome all into their home and ensure that all are provided with love, dignity and respect. Keeping our Residents as independent as possible is our focus. At the St. Louis Residence, the needs of the elderly are met in a homelike setting. The Residents' lives are enriched and respected in various distinct, loving housing environments:

Senior Apartment - For those individual and married couples who can care for their own needs. Each apartment features a separate bedroom, living/dining room combination, full bath and a complete kitchen.

Independent "Home" Living - Spacious and fully furnished, these efficiency-like single rooms encourage independent senior living, but on a much smaller scale - one that a senior can mange. Each of these "Home Rooms" features a bank of wall-to-wall windows, inviting the outside in and a complete private bath. They are furnished with a single bed, nightstand, writing desk, bureau and a comfortable recliner.

Nursing Care - Completes this continuum and provides the Resident with the extra care they need.

 • Senior Day Center - Our Senior Center Program centers its focus on allowing the participants to have as much independence as possible while still residing in their homes. The Senior Center Program is an outreach assistance program for our Hyde Park neighborhood's elderly residents, allowing them to come to the Home during the day and participate in various activities free of charge to them. This program's objective is to assist in bridging a gap to allow our elderly neighbors to receive the assistance they need while still being able to live in their own home, as well as offering various opportunities for socializing. The program includes: transportation to and from the St. Louis Residence, exercise and fitness classes, breakfast, a full hot meal for lunch, crafts and ceramics, various outings and events, socials and tax preparation when needed. Seniors are invited to come and share in the activities offered Monday through Friday.
